As Nigeria intensifies efforts to diversify its economy and strengthen food security, private sector investments in large-scale agriculture are gaining momentum. In Delta State, a new agribusiness initiative is drawing attention for its blend of commercial farming and investment opportunities, signalling a shift toward more structured and sustainable agricultural ventures.

A Nigerian entrepreneur, Christian Ukah, has launched CVG Farmcity, a cutting-edge 200-acre agricultural project located in Issele-Uku, the headquarters of Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The agribusiness venture is designed to focus on large-scale palm oil production alongside land banking, offering investors a dual opportunity for land ownership and professionally managed farming services.
CVG Farmcity is projected to host between 30,000 and 50,000 palm trees, positioning the initiative as a significant contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural value chain and a potential catalyst for increased palm oil output.
Speaking at the launch, Ukah, who serves as the Chief Executive of the investment group, said the project is built on sustainability and long-term profitability.
“We are thrilled to unveil this innovative project, which will not only transform Delta State’s agribusiness landscape but also contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth and food security,” he stated.
The launch event attracted key stakeholders, including representatives of the Delta State Government, who lauded the initiative for its economic potential, particularly in job creation, rural development, and agricultural expansion.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his Special Adviser, Emmanuel Osazuwa, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
According to him, “This project aligns perfectly with our Agricultural Transformation Agenda by promoting agricultural development, diversifying the economy, and improving the quality of life for our citizens.”
He further encouraged local farmers and youths to tap into the opportunities presented by CVG Farmcity, noting that the initiative provides access to support services and structured participation in agribusiness.
The governor’s aide also commended Ukah and his team at CVG Development Limited for their vision, describing the project as a testament to Delta State’s growing reputation as a hub for agribusiness investment.
Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the governor, Ossai Success, described the project as a potential model for agricultural development in Nigeria, capable of driving innovation and sectoral growth.
With its scale and integrated approach, CVG Farmcity is expected to deliver wide-ranging benefits to the host community, including employment opportunities, economic stimulation, and improved food security outcomes.
