As the rainy season fast approaches preparatory to another farming season, the Kaduna State Government has showcased what it described as measurable gains in security, agriculture and social development as it prepares to host the 2026 Annual Week and National Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
The state Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the choice of Kaduna to host over 2,000 delegates was a validation of the state’s reform agenda.
Maiyakia made this known while receiving members of the NIPR National Planning Committee, led by Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, at the Ministry of Information in Kaduna recently .
He said the conference, themed “Nigeria’s Food Security: From Policy Paper to Public Plate – The Imperative of Public Relations,” would hold from April 19 to 25, 2026.
He revealed that the event will bring together global public relations experts, policymakers and industry leaders to interrogate how communication can drive real impact in food security.
“This is not just a conference on food security. It is a conference hosted by a state that is actively demonstrating measurable progress,” he said.
While noting that Kaduna had recently moved from “red to amber” in security assessments, a development he said reflected improved stability and renewed investor confidence.

Maiyaki attributed the progress to the peace-building efforts of Governor Uba Sani’s administration, stressing that security reforms were laying the groundwork for economic recovery.
He added that commercial activities had resumed in Birnin Gwari, with 40 trucks of livestock being evacuated weekly from the area to major markets.
“These interventions are restoring confidence among farmers and traders. Food security begins with ensuring that those who produce and transport food can do so without fear,” he said.
The commissioner further made it known that more than 300,000 out-of-school children had been enrolled back into classrooms as part of the Kaduna Peace Model.
He said the state had also upgraded and renovated 255 Primary Healthcare Centres to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
“Food security is about the farmer who can cultivate without fear, a trader who can move goods freely, a child who can return to school, and a mother who can access healthcare,” He said

The commissioner further revealed that more than 300,000 out-of-school children had been enrolled back into classrooms as part of the Kaduna Peace Model.
“Food security is about the farmer who can cultivate without fear, a trader who can move goods freely, a child who can return to school, and a mother who can access healthcare,” Maiyaki stated.
He revealed that the milestones were not mere statistics but indicators of a broader reform trajectory aimed at translating policy into tangible benefits for citizens, expressing confidence that the NIPR conference would spotlight Kaduna’s strides while advancing national discourse on food security.
